Purpose

The Finance Data Warehouse allows users to access State of Utah information quickly and efficiently via the Internet using a Web browser.


Background

A. The data warehouse consists of data extracted from Division of Finance systems and stored on servers in the Division of Finance. All information stored in the Finance Data Warehouse is public information.

B. Agencies may access the detail and summary data in the Finance Data Warehouse via the Internet using a Web browser. Users can execute queries using tools available on the Finance Web site and can then view and/or download the results. Users cannot modify data.

C. Information in the data warehouse is extracted from the following systems:
1. FINET, which is the State of Utah accounting system
2. Payment Tracking System (PTS), which is the interface between the State of Utah and the bank used for clearing payments
3. Payroll System, which provides labor detail and employee data

D. Currently users may look up information in the data warehouse back to July 1, 1994, the inception of the Finance Data Warehouse.


Policy

A. The Finance Data Warehouse is available to any state employee who:
1. Uses State of Utah financial information
2. Uses State of Utah labor detail and employee data
3. Tracks the status of payments (warrants, checks, and electronic funds transfers) issued by the State of Utah
4. Uses the inventory function of FINET
5. Works with State of Utah vendors

B. The Finance Data Warehouse contains only public information.

C. Access to the Finance Data Warehouse is granted only after users complete training.

D. To request access to the Finance Data Warehouse, to schedule training, or to obtain additional information about the data warehouse, contact the Division of Finance at 801-538-3082.

  2. Attend training on using the Finance Data Warehouse.

Data Warehouse

  1. Provide the required training course(s).
  2. Grant requested access to the Finance Data Warehouse and assign the user’s logon ID and password during training.
