FIACCT 05-09: Payments for holiday expenses

Purpose
This policy outlines the holiday expenses that can be paid.
Definitions
Agency – Any agency, board, bureau, commission, office, department, or other administrative subunit of the executive branch of state government.
Commissioner – The executive leader of an agency.
Policy
A – Agencies may pay for limited holiday expenses
1 – Agencies may purchase non-religious winter holiday decorations up to $100 per division (or equivalent) per fiscal year as allowed by agency policies.
2 – Agencies may pay for holiday expenses for the residents at the Utah State Developmental Center, Utah State Hospital, Schools for the Deaf and Blind, group homes, and other similar facilities, as allowed by the commissioner.
B – Agencies may not pay for certain holiday expenses
1 – Agencies may not purchase live trees.
2 – Agencies may not pay for holiday cards or any costs related to sending holiday messages.
